I heard there's an interesting article posted by a foreigner talking about how his countrymen made it after the war and his observations about the Filipinos. I wish I can read it soon.
I have no doubt about our recovery from war but if I may be excused, our education system is among that which to blame for the poverty we now try hard to cope with.
We are lucky for having intelligent and industrious people. We value education so much that almost every parent's fulfillment is his being able to have his children finish a college degree and land a good job but the direction was actually heading towards being employed rather than become a producer or maybe an entrepreneur. Needless to say however, such quality education which could certainly bring out these producers and entrepreneurs is something only few can afford.
And because everyone wants a quality life but seems our place can not give it all, even if we want to be patriotic, we can not bury rare chance for that quality life. For this sad reason, most of our talented and skilled professionals had to leave the country.
